Daytona - Nationwide Race

Friday morning got up and got ready and headed out for the day. Our first stop was to find some lunch somewhere. We decided to Aunt Catfish's Seafood. If you are ever in Daytona, Aunt Catfish's is a must!!

After eating lunch we headed to the track. We had Fan Zone passes which let us in the infield where the Fan Zone area is. Daytona has a really neat area for fans in the infield. You can stand on top of the garages, the garages all have windows in the back where you can look in and see the drivers work on their cars, and other fun stuff you can do.

Tony Stewart was outside the track doing a little Q&A session. We were able to watch him for a few minutes and then went on into the infield. When we got into the infield, qualifying was about to begin. We walked up to the top of the garage so we could see the cars. There were only a few cars that were able to qualify because it started raining.

We were able to stay up there and see a lot of drivers walk back and forth from the trailer to their car or garage...

Before the race started, we walked over to where all the pre-race stuff was going on.

Dale Jr. drove the #3 Wrangler Car during the Nationwide Race. It is the last time that this car will be driven. To make it even better - he won the race!!

The race itself was one of the best Nationwide races I have ever seen. It had a lot to do with the fact that Jr was driving that special car and he raced so well. I love when Jr wins. It has been a while since he has completely dominated a race. And he did on Friday night. I wish you could have heard the fans when he won. They went crazy!!! It was really a lot of fun.

Jake and Kate entertaining themselves at the race. haha!
