So to everyone's surprise, that big snow moved up just a little bit and hit Birmingham. Birmingham wasn't at all prepared. In fact, we sent a lot of emergency resources to south Alabama. When everyone realized that it was getting bad, it was almost too late. Roads were icy and snowy and people couldn't get home. It took some people hours to get home, some people had to get hotel rooms and others are still stuck on the interstate or major roads. There are even some teachers having to spend the night at the school because parents couldn't come get their kids. So while, it's fun to see all this snow at my house. I pray for those stranded away from their families tonight!
My parents are here with us tonight. They were planning on going to the hunting club. My dad had a meeting this morning and got home at about 10:15. The roads on his way home were fine! By the time he and my mom loaded the truck and got back out about 15 minutes later the roads were almost impassable. They were headed to my house to drop off their dog and it took them about 45 minutes which is normally 15-20 minute trip. They decided to stay here since the roads to the south of here were supposed to be worse. So we're snowed in. I didn't buy groceries this week so we have little food to eat. Ben and my dad tried to get to the grocery store but they had closed by the time they got down the hill. Ben ended up getting us food from a hibachi grill place. It was super good!!
But we we're able to have a little bit of fun while it was snowing today!
